Children often land up in an artistic world especially during their playtime. Hence, any toy designed must suit their fun purpose. By purchasing a plaything that cannot camouflage with their creativity is obscure to them. Under such circumstances, no matter what the cost is, children would quietly discard the item. Parents’ being the victim has to succumb silently to the tantrums. But now with the advent of standard companies, they can rest their apprehension apart. Hasbro is one amongst the widely acknowledged company, particularly for their painstaking design and features. Nerf Blasters are popular amongst school going kids. As discussed earlier, the blasters are crafted to magnify their playing spirits to the highest level.

Siege your Territory:
Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 Blasters is definitely the coolest weapon on any kid’s hand. The blaster can be re-designed using the 5 interchangeable components depending on the intensification of the fight! Under critical conditions, when high level shooting is required Recon CS-6 blaster can be quickly configured against the Tactical Rail part. To aim and shot can never be more precise with the Flip-up sight feature. Recon CS-6 blaster can be handled silently at night, as it is powered with the dual-mode light beam, which gives considerable vision for night attacks. There is no undesirable inconvenience in handling the gun as the user can employ the shoulder stock to offer a stable support.
Design:
The Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 Blaster Gun is coloured up in two contrasting combination of yellow and patches of orange and black. The blaster’s dimensions are sensibly crafted to afford good hold throughout the action. The gun’s front part is designed with the barrel extension, tactical rail, sight and power switch. The detachable light beam unit can be activated through the beam selector for night visions. The front part is compact and neat. The middle unit, wherein all the actions are in store is loaded with the blaster unit, cocking mechanism, clip function, extra dart storage, and the trigger mechanism. The flip-up sight situated on the upper part of the middle section can be used as required. It neatly folds up when not in use. The release button lies on the anterior part of the pistol adjoining the detachable storage stock. The blaster holds six streamline darts. Even though it has the capacity to accommodate one more, it is been purposefully avoided to reduce jamming issues. It can be re-configured with other N-Strike blasters having the Tactical Rail accessory using the 5 exchangeable parts. The interchangeable parts are described briefly.
Dual mode light beam:
The dual mode light beam is battery operated. The beam’s light projection can be customized by adjusting the light beam selector place on the side. Depending on the target’s size and distance, the beam can be widened or narrowed. The light beam is designed in either red or green light.
Recon CS-6 Barrel Extension:
The barrel extension consists of one tactical rail on the top and the other beneath. This arrangement facilitates practical attachments to the gun. The upper part limits any further attachment as it already supports a rail for sight and adding additional components blocks the view. The only concern is the vibration it produces while operating the same. Nevertheless, it can be avoided by having a firm grip on the clip load area.
Flip up sight:
The flip up sight is located on the frontal side of the trigger. The user can approximately judge the distance between the gun and the target using the sight. The aiming hole is moved simultaneously to fix the object. For farther away subjects the recommended aim is upwards and for closer ones it is downwards. The flip up sight is also compatible with Longsight CS-6 and Deploy CS-6.
Shoulder Stock:
The shoulder stock offers a steady support during the shooting operation. Additional advantage for the shoulder stock is that it has provision to store an extra clip. Even if the stock gives a good aim and support, it is bit fragile as it supported by flimsy plastic material.
Quick Reload Clip:
This section has an option to store an additional dart in the handle, so the user never runs out of darts in the middle of the action.
Firing Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 Blaster:
Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 Blaster is based on the magazine fed clip system blaster. Using the spring mechanism present in the magazine system; ammunition is loaded on to the firearm. Streamline darts are used in this case due to its compatibility with the clip system. The clip’s capacity is up to six darts, an additional one can be stored on the shoulder stock. Spring mechanism in the clip system thrust the dart further in to the blaster chamber. Once the trigger is pulled, the chamber closes and fires the dart. On re-opening the chamber, clip mechanism positions the second dart for firing. The dart’s average distance coverage is 25-30 feet. The target can be aimed precisely using the Flip up sight, but the same needs to be geared back during the ammunition loading process. This is somewhat time consuming, considering the playing spirits of children. Isolation of the ammo from the clip system is recommended when not in use. Continued storage can cause jamming issues. The reverse plunge leading to misfires in inevitable at certain situations. Nevertheless the occurrences are greatly reduced by using a smaller plunger tube in this model.
Performance:
The best feature of the Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 gun is the detachable facility. Good customisation thrills the user during the play. Plunger tube size determines the blaster’s efficiency. Recon CS-6’s tube size is neither too big nor short and is comparable to that of Maverick. Recon CS-6 blaster operates on “reverse plunger” mechanism, wherein the movable plunger shifts forward and backward making a dead space. There is a total loss of air-pressure, creating more occurrences of misfires. The product was recalled, as fingers are injured as it gets stuck in between the plunger. Hasbro has modified the product and re-launched the same without any complications. However, such toys must be used under parental guidance. The blaster must be used as pistol and not as rifle. Care must be taken during spring replacement as misfits can occur.
Batteries:
Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 Blaster works on 2 “AAA” batteries.

Verdict:
Expectation from a toy is a subjective term and often varies with respect to a child’s imagination. The toy weapon is recommended for children above 6 years. Therefore, it would be unwise if the parents opt for buying a toy that has a different purpose, and convince the kid that it would meet their expectation. It would no longer be their favourite one. In order to align their expectation with the desired product, it is advisable to explain the features of the plaything. In this case Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 Blaster purely can be used as shotgun and not as rifle. Within shorter firing range (25-30 feet), it offers good coverage thus satisfying the firing fun. The accuracy level is good. Untimely cocking mechanism can cause faster action thus increasing the jamming frequency. The firing rate is 2 darts per second respectively. Considering the price and reliability it is a better weapon choice, bearing in mind the limitations of the same.
